We filmed this a few years before the pandemic in 2016. It was so cold out. A few of our lights shattered the moment they were brought outside and turned on. I don't think I'll ever willingly shoot overnights again if I can help it. Everyone is trying so hard to stay awake and so there's really not much time to think about anything else. At the time, I didn’t realize that my peculiar fascination with isolation was actually foreshadowing a greater dilemma I would face years later. My desire to hide would only then be perpetuated by a global pandemic. Laurence Sterne once said "In solitude the mind gains strength and learns to lean upon itself." I have found the exact opposite to be true.
